Patricia M Pawlik-York Resume

IMG_4046I graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Elementary Education and have over 25 years of experience directing school age programs and developing youth programs in several Vermont communities.  I was the Director of Youth and Family Programs at the Greater Burlington YMCA, Burlington, VT., where I earned my Senior Director status.  Prior to that I worked as a Youth Outreach Director in Somerville, MA. working with at risk teens, and as an After-K and School age Director in Brookline, MA.  In my present position as Youth Director at the Clubhouse camp in Hinesburg, VT., I manage after school, vacation, school age enrichment and summer programs.  I am also a leader on the state level serving on the STARS (STep Ahead Recognition System) oversight board as an after school representative, and was instrumental in developing Vermont’s Afterschool core competencies for professionals. Additionally, I am a STARS (STep Ahead Recognition System) assessor, workshop trainer and peer mentor, as well as a member of the National Association of Afterschool and Vermont Afterschool Inc.  

I enrolled in this degree program to continue  the learning process and become well versed on the new technologies, trends and issues in the field.  I also hope to take what I learn and improve not only the programs that I oversee, but help to make a difference in teaching college level classes in the area of teaching and learning in youth development to others who dedicate their lives to children in their out of school time.  My professional goals are to continue to education young children, teach adult learners in the field and continue to support programs overall through advocacy and program development of best practices.

At home, I have a wonderful wife and 4 amazing children.  Keegan, 13, Kaylynne and Keelie, 11, and Mckenna, 10. Our family enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, biking, camping, and kayaking.  My family is extremely supportive of my quest to achieve the goal of obtaining my Master’s degree.
